Kenya eTA Requirements
The Kenya eTA application requires the applicant to submit documents along with the application form. The document requirements change depending on the eTA type applied for.
Documents Common to All Kenya eTA Types
Passport Bio Page Scan
- The scan must be clear and of high quality.
- Ensure the entire bio page is captured without any cropping, glare, or blur.
- The passport must be valid for 6 months and have at least 1 blank page.
Photograph
- Submit a recent passport-size photograph.
- The photograph must be clear and high-quality.
- The applicant's face must be fully visible and easy to identify.
Round-Trip Travel Ticket (Arrival and Departure)
Submit a travel booking confirmation showing both arrival into and departure from Kenya.
If Travelling by Air
Submit a confirmed flight ticket
If Travelling by Cruise
Submit the confirmed cruise booking ticket
If Travelling by Land
Submit a confirmed bus ticket, a tour operator booking confirmation, or a travel request letter if travelling by your own vehicle.
Accommodation Proof: Hotel or Guest House Booking
Submit proof of where you will be staying in Kenya during your visit.
Exception: Transit eTA applicants are not required to submit accommodation proof.

Letter From Employer
Submit the invitation letter issued by the Kenyan company or employer.
Family Visit eTA
Submit BOTH documents:
Invitation letter from the Host
A letter of invitation issued by the inviting host.
Host’s ID card copy
The Inviting host’s Kenya ID card
Work eTA
Letter from Employer
Submit the employment letter issued by the Kenyan organisation or employer.
Medical eTA
Medical Referral Letter
Submit a medical referral letter issued by a licensed healthcare provider in your home country, referring you for treatment in Kenya.
Student eTA
Letter of Admission to School/College/University
Submit a formal letter of admission from a recognised school, college, or university in Kenya.
Crew eTA (Plane or Ship)
For Air Crew (Plane):
Crew ID
Submit a scanned copy of your valid, airline-issued identity card proving you are an active crew member.

For Sea Crew (Ship):
Submit any ONE of the following:
Option 1: Crew ID
Submit a scanned copy of your valid shipowner-issued crew identity card.

Submit a scanned copy of your valid seafarer's identification and record book.

Crew ID or Seaman Book, and Kenya Host ID Card
Identity Card of Host
The host may be the airline, shipping company, vessel operator, employer, or sponsoring organisation responsible for the visit.
Seaman eTA (Fishing Vessel)
Submit any ONE:
Option 1: Crew ID
Submit a scanned copy of your valid fishing vessel operator or employer-issued identity card.
Option 2: Seaman Book
Submit a scanned copy of your valid seafarer’s identification and record book.
Identity Card of Host
The host may be the fishing company, vessel operator, employer, or other sponsoring organisation responsible for the visit.
FAQ: What documents does the fishing vessel seaman applicant need to submit?
A scanned copy of EITHER their fishing vessel crew ID or a valid seaman's book and a valid identity card of the Kenyan host.
