Etihad Airways has resumed nonstop service between Abu Dhabi and Nairobi, Kenya. This relaunch reconnects the UAE with East Africa’s primary economic hub, facilitating increased trade and tourism. Travellers must obtain a Kenya eTA online before arrival.
Etihad operates four weekly flights between Zayed International Airport (AUH) and Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (NBO) using Airbus A320 aircraft.
Schedule (Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, Sunday):
As East Africa’s commercial centre, Nairobi serves as the gateway to the Maasai Mara, Mt. Kenya, and the Great Rift Valley. It is the only city in the world to host a national park within its limits. Following Kenya’s 2024 milestone of 3 million visitors, this route supports growing international business and tourism demands.
The Airbus A320 configuration includes:
Passengers have access to the Etihad Guest loyalty program and in-flight entertainment. Premium travellers may use Etihad lounges at Zayed International Airport.
Etihad is currently the only carrier providing nonstop flights between Abu Dhabi and Nairobi. This route strengthens Abu Dhabi’s status as a global aviation hub and expands Etihad’s footprint in Sub-Saharan Africa, improving access to emerging markets.
The direct link facilitates trade and investment between the UAE and Kenya, benefiting exporters and investors.
Inbound to Kenya: Easier access for travellers from the UAE, Europe, and Asia to reach Kenya’s wildlife parks, cultural sites like Lamu Old Town, and coastal destinations like Diani.
Outbound from Kenya: Kenyan travellers gain one-stop access to Etihad’s global network across Europe, Asia, and the Americas via Abu Dhabi.
Etihad aims to serve over 90 destinations by the end of 2025. Nairobi is the airline’s third Sub-Saharan destination, alongside Johannesburg and the Seychelles. In 2025, Etihad will add 13 new routes, including Prague, Warsaw, Taipei, and Algiers.
Home to landmarks such as the Louvre Abu Dhabi and the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, Abu Dhabi serves as a critical transit point for passengers travelling between Africa and global markets.
The resumed Abu Dhabi-Nairobi service enhances travel efficiency, strengthens bilateral economic ties, and simplifies transit for international travellers.
