To ensure a balanced perspective, the program includes a multi-day tour of Uganda. Participants will evaluate Uganda’s wildlife safaris, adventure tourism, and cultural sites to understand better how to market these products alongside Kenya’s coastal offerings.

Conference Theme: Fostering Tourism Synergy

Under the theme "Consolidating Networks, Synergies & Diversity to maximise the tourism potential between Uganda and the Kenya Coastal Region," the event focuses on four strategic pillars:

  • Consolidating Networks: Establishing robust links between government officials and private sector operators.
  • Synergies: Combining resources to design multi-destination travel packages.
  • Diversity: Promoting a varied portfolio ranging from beach resorts to mountain trekking.
  • Maximising Tourism Potential: Implementing data-driven strategies to convert untapped opportunities into economic growth.

Mutually Beneficial Tourism Markets

Kenya and Uganda maintain a reciprocal tourism relationship. Kenya is currently the top source market for visitors to Uganda, while Uganda ranks as Kenya’s second-largest source of tourists. This interdependence drives the need for joint promotional efforts to capitalize on the contrasting attractions of both nations.

  • Key Participants
The conference gathers a comprehensive demographic of the tourism value chain, ensuring that policy decisions reflect the needs of all sectors.
  • Engagement of Private Sector Bodies
The summit prioritises private sector input, featuring active participation from Chambers of Commerce and trade associations. This collaboration ensures that tourism growth remains commercially viable and sustainable.
  • Distinguished Speakers and Representatives
High-ranking government officials and international experts provide the policy framework and institutional support necessary to execute large-scale regional tourism initiatives.

Unique Tourism Offerings and Collaborative Opportunities

The partnership aims to merge the "safari and sea" experiences. By aligning marketing campaigns and simplifying cross-border logistics, Kenya and Uganda can increase visitor retention and satisfaction. Key initiatives include:

  1. Joint Marketing: Shared branding at international travel expos.
  2. Integrated Packages: Single itineraries covering both Kenyan beaches and Ugandan gorilla trekking.
  3. Community Impact: Focusing on responsible tourism that distributes economic benefits to local populations and protects natural ecosystems.
