If you are travelling to Kenya to join aircraft/vessel or to report for a crew assignment obtain Kenya positioning crew eTA. The eTA is issued online without requiring a visit to an embassy or consulate.

Who is Eligible to Apply?

Eligibility for this travel authorisation is determined by the applicant’s nationality. Before starting the application process, check the Kenya eTA policy to confirm whether your nationality is eligible to apply online.

Requirements for the Kenya Positioning Crew eTA

Applicants should prepare the following documents when applying for a Kenya Positioning Crew eTA:

• 01 Passport Bio Page:

  A clear copy of the passport bio-data page. The passport should be valid for at least 6 months after the planned date of arrival in Kenya and have at least one blank page.

• 02 Applicant Photograph:

  A recent selfie or passport-style photograph showing the applicant clearly.

• 03 Accommodation Details:

  Accommodation booking confirmation or details of where the crew member will stay in Kenya, where applicable.

• 04 Round Trip Travel Ticket:

  Flight ticket/ cruise booking ticket/ bus ticket or a travel request letter if travelling by own vehicle. 

Note: The applicant’s passport must remain valid for 6 months after arrival in Kenya. The policies are updated periodically; check the latest Kenya eTA requirements before applying.

Application Steps for Kenya eTA

By following the simple steps below, applicants can complete and submit their eTA application within minutes:

1. Access the Kenya eTA application form and select “Positioning Crew eTA” from the visa type menu. 
2. Fill in your travel and passport details accurately, then upload the necessary scan copy of the required documents. 
3. Pay the eTA fee using credit or debit card, paypal, cryptocurrency or bank transfer (available upon applicant request) 
4. Receive the approved Kenya Positioning Crew eTA via email. Print a copy for arrival purposes.

Note: Regular status updates are provided to the applicant on their registered email ID. 

Permitted Stay & Validity

The Kenya positioning crew eTA validity and permitted stay options are:

• Single Entry
  Validity: Valid for 90 days from the eTA issuance date

  Stay Duration: Allows a stay of up to 90 days after arrival
• Multiple Entry
  Validity: Valid for 1 year from the eTA issuance date

  Stay Duration: Permits a stay of up to 90 days per visit

  Note: US Citizens cannot apply for 1 year multiple entry eTA
• Multiple Entry (Available only for US Citizens)
  Validity: Valid for 5 years from the eTA issuance date

  Stay Duration: Stay of up to 90 days per visit

Kenya Positioning Crew eTA Fees & Processing Options

The total Kenya Positioning Crew eTA fees vary by the selected entry type and processing speed.

Applicants can choose from the following processing options:

• Normal Processing: A suitable option for those with enough time till departure. Receive approval within 3-5 Days.
• Rush Processing: Faster option for near travel dates. The eTA is issued within 2 - 3 Days.
• Super Rush Processing: Quickest option available for urgent needs. The eTA is delivered within 1 - 2 Days.

Note: Processing time is estimated and in most cases, the eTA is delivered before the stated time. 

Extension of the Kenya Positioning Crew eTA

Extensions may be granted in certain cases. To check if you qualify for an extension, visit the Directorate of Immigration Services in Nairobi before your allowed stay expires.
